Every winter, LUMINO Montréal transforms the Quartier des spectacles and downtown into a grand, open-air, free luminous adventure, where light, creativity and winter nordicity meet. Formerly known as Luminothérapie, this event by the Quartier des spectacles Partnership has become a must-attend event of the Montréal winter. The next edition, the 17th, will illuminate the city from November 2026 to March 2027.

The Quartier des spectacles Partnership has confirmed that the next edition of LUMINO will take place from November 2026 to March 2027. The exact dates and program will be announced on the official website. For reference, the 16th edition ran from November 27, 2025, to March 8, 2026.

From Luminothérapie to LUMINO

For over a decade, Luminothérapie presented a few large installations each winter in the Quartier des spectacles. Since the 15th edition (2024-2025), the event has been called LUMINO and spans a much larger area, from the Quartier des spectacles to the heart of downtown. Several works created for the event then travel elsewhere in the world. The event is presented with the support of the City of Montréal and Tourisme Montréal.

A Luminous Program that Evolves Throughout the Winter

LUMINO brings together interactive installations, video projections on facades, and creative experiences, both indoors and outdoors. This luminous program is enhanced throughout the winter season: in 2025-2026, some works were added in January, others stayed for only a few weeks, and special activities accompanied the March break.

The 2025-2026 edition featured 35 works, including 23 by Québec artists, spread over more than 15 sites, notably along Sainte-Catherine Street West, at Place des Arts, and on the PVM Esplanade at Place Ville Marie. For example, there was ChronoHarp, a giant luminous harp, and Les Voyageurs by Cédric Le Borgne, characters suspended above downtown hotels.
