Every week, Pierre Brochant and his friends organize a dinner where each must bring an idiot: the one who finds the most spectacular one is declared the winner. Tonight, Brochant is ecstatic. He believes he has found the rare gem, a world-class idiot: François Pignon, a civil servant at the Ministry of Finance and passionate about matchstick models. What he doesn't know is that Pignon is a master at causing disasters...

Written by Francis Veber, the play was also adapted into a film. The recipient of the César Award for Best Screenplay for the film, the author first created this play for the stage in Paris in the 1990s. It has become a modern classic of comedy, filled with absurd situations, humor, and famous lines, like the famous "His name is Juste Leblanc! ... Oh really, he doesn't have a first name?".
