Prison Island Montréal is a team action game located on the 2nd floor of 1231 Sainte-Catherine Street West, downtown. The concept: over 30 prison cells, each hiding a different challenge. Agility, logic, skill, reflection... your team has 90 minutes to complete as many challenges as possible and accumulate points. Open since March 2026, it's one of the most original group experiences in Montreal.
What is Prison Island?
Born in Scandinavia, the Prison Island concept first gained popularity in Europe. The company behind the Montreal adaptation operates two centers in Belgium; Montreal is its first location in North America. The official opening took place on March 13, 2026.
In an interactive prison setting, players move from cell to cell. Behind the doors, each cell hides a new challenge: whack-a-mole, basketball, "waterfall," "the cage"... Some challenges require strategy, others speed or coordination. It's a true team adventure, where everyone finds the cell where they shine: the most agile slip through, the smartest solve puzzles.
Prison Island or escape game: what's the difference?
Prison Island is described as "more fun than an escape game." In a classic escape game, you follow a scenario in a single room and solve puzzles in a specific order. Here, it's the complete opposite:
- you choose the cells in any order you want;
- you can retry a challenge as many times as you wish;
- each successful challenge earns between 25 and 100 points;
- the overall timer keeps running, so you have to choose your battles.
This freedom creates a pace that leaves no room for rest. You run from one door to another, share roles, and redo a challenge to get the maximum points. Team spirit is key.
How does a game work?
- Form a team of 2 to 5 people. The site recommends teams of 3 to 5: with two, some challenges are more difficult, and some cells do not allow you to earn all the points.
- Arrive early for the briefing, which explains the rules.
- You have 90 minutes of play (excluding preparation) to complete as many cells as possible.
- Giant screens in the reception and play area display the live leaderboard: you compete against the best teams of the day, the week, or the top 3.
Prison Island Montréal can accommodate 28 teams at the same time. A reception area with a bar and plenty of seating allows you to relax before or after the game.
For whom? Age, family, friends, and colleagues
The game is aimed at ages 7 to 77. Children under 7 cannot play or accompany players. A team without an adult must consist only of participants aged 14 and over.
It's an ideal activity for:
- a family outing or with friends;
- birthdays (party packages available);
- a bachelor or bachelorette party;
- team building with colleagues;
- large groups of more than 15 people, who book through the group page.
Regarding accessibility, the venue is accessible by elevator, the corridors meet width standards, and adapted restrooms are available. Some cells can be completed by people with reduced mobility. The activity is suitable for deaf people (except for two cells), but it is not recommended for visually impaired people. No strobe lighting is used.
Prices and booking
At launch, tickets were announced at $30.90 for adults and $26.90 for ages 7 to 17, slightly more expensive on weekends. Prices may change: check the rate and schedule in the ticket selector.
Tickets are sold online on the Fever platform (website and app). There is also a ticket office on site, but each session has limited capacity: it's best to book in advance. You can change the date up to 48 hours before the experience; refunds are not offered, except in cases provided by law.
