The Musée Armand-Frappier, now known as the Musée de la santé Armand-Frappier, is an interactive science museum located in Laval, right next to the Cosmodôme. Here, you don't just look: you observe, manipulate, and conduct real laboratory experiments with a scientific guide. It's an ideal outing to spark curiosity in young people (and the young at heart) about the human body, health, and the environment.
A health museum in brand new facilities
Founded in 1992 and open to the public in 1994, the museum is named after Dr. Armand Frappier (1904-1991), a Quebec physician and microbiologist, pioneer in preventive medicine and the fight against tuberculosis. He also founded the research institute that bears his name, now part of the INRS.
Its official name became Musée de la santé Armand-Frappier in 2022. A major update: since January 2023, it occupies a bright 1,800 m² building over two floors, with two exhibition halls, four laboratories, and three multipurpose rooms. The building is LEED certified.
The exhibitions: exploring health on four scales
The permanent exhibition 4, 3, 2, 1… Santé! (on display until 2033) offers a journey through the four scales of human health:
- molecules and cells;
- the individual and the functioning of the human body;
- populations;
- the planet and the environment.
Entirely bilingual, it is aimed at visitors aged 7 and up. The interactive modules explain how the body defends itself against disease and show the effect of lifestyle habits on health and well-being. The museum highlights concrete actions that everyone can take for their health, the health of others, and the planet.
Each year, the museum also renews its temporary exhibition. From September 28, 2026, to September 7, 2027, enjoy Studio pas de stress, an interactive experience that explores stress from a new perspective: its mechanisms, its effects on health, and simple ways to care for mental well-being.
The laboratory: experiments with a scientific guide
What sets the Musée de la santé Armand-Frappier apart is its "expo-lab" approach. In addition to the exhibitions, visitors can participate in a laboratory activity led by a scientific guide. Lab coat, magnifying glass, microscope: the team takes you from naked-eye observation to the world of the infinitely small, discovering microorganisms, cells, and molecules in a new way.
The museum's website also offers a free "Discoveries" section: experiments, games, and challenges to do at home around three themes: the microscopic world, the human body, and the environment.
For whom? Families, schools, camps, and children's parties
The museum is for everyone, but it particularly appeals to families and curious young people:
- Families: an educational outing of about 1 hour and 45 minutes with the expo + lab package;
- Schools: activities for classes, from preschool to high school, in-person or virtual;
- Science camps: during breaks, campers aged 6 to 12 explore themes like the environment, the human body, and the infinitely small;
- Children's parties: birthdays with scientific activities (DNA, yeast) for the guests;
- Groups and businesses: group visits (16 people and more, by reservation) and room rentals.

Admission is free for children aged 0 to 6. As for hours, the museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from June 24 to the first Monday in September.
