Mondes disparus is an immersive virtual reality expedition that takes you back in time over 3.5 billion years. After its notable run at the Old Port of Montreal in 2025, the experience is moving to Québec City, at the Laurier Québec shopping center, starting October 14, 2026. Mondes disparus in Québec: Dates and Location

The experience opens on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at Laurier Québec, located at 2700, boulevard Laurier, on level 1, near entrance 12. Ticket sales begin on September 30, 2026 on the official website. The end date of the presentation has not yet been announced, nor have the detailed schedules.

Expériences Infinity is presenting the adventure in Québec City. In Montreal, Mondes disparus was presented at Studio PHI, near the Science Centre, in the Old Port, on de la Commune Ouest street, starting in February 2025. It was then a North American premiere.

An Experience Born at the National Museum of Natural History

Mondes disparus is designed by the French company Excurio, in collaboration with the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. The expedition was first presented at the Jardin des Plantes before traveling to other cities, including Montreal.

Scientific rigor is at the heart of the project. The scientific curatorship includes Bruno David, Guillaume Lecointre, Gaël Clément, and Sylvain Charbonnier, who coordinated about thirty advisors from the Museum. Paleontologists, paleobotanists, and bioacoustics specialists worked together to ensure that the images and sounds are faithful to current knowledge. More than a hundred plants and over 120 animal species have been reconstructed in 3D.

A 3.5 Billion-Year Journey Through Evolution

Throughout the expedition, you traverse the major eras of Earth's history and witness the emergence of life in all its forms:

  • the Archean and the first traces of life on the planet;
  • the Cambrian explosion, at the bottom of the oceans;
  • the giant forests of the Carboniferous and their giant millipedes;
  • the era of dinosaurs and marine reptiles;
  • more recent times, up to the arrival of the first humans and today's endangered species.

Throughout the adventure, visitors are accompanied by two characters: Charlie and his robot Darwin. Their role: to tell the story of life, with a touch of humor, without ever losing sight of science.

How Does the Experience Work?

Equipped with a virtual reality headset, visitors move freely, in groups, in a large space. The expedition lasts about 45 minutes, standing and walking. You move from one landscape to another and observe the creatures up close, much like a museum visit... but in the time of the dinosaurs. The immersion is total: the images and sounds really give the impression of having traveled back in time.

For Whom?

The experience is designed for those 8 years and older. During the Montreal presentation, children aged 8 to 12 had to be accompanied by an adult: check the rules for the Québec edition when booking. It's a great outing for families, friends, or anyone interested in science, evolution, or dinosaurs.
