The Érablière Charbonneau is a family-run sugar shack nestled at the foot of Mount Saint-Grégoire in Montérégie, about 40 minutes from Montreal. All-you-can-eat sugar shack meals during sugaring season, a snack bar on the terrace in summer, a mini-farm, and trails make it a perfect outing for family or friends.

A Traditional Sugar Shack at Mount Saint-Grégoire

The family's history in maple syrup production goes back several generations: great-great-grandfather Omer Brodeur was among the pioneers of the region, considered a cradle of commercial sugar shacks in Quebec. Mélanie Charbonneau and Alexandre Jourdain acquired the site in 2004 and opened it to the public in 2006. The wooden hall accommodates over 250 people in a warm and unpretentious atmosphere.

The Sugar Shack Meal During Sugaring Season

During the sugaring season (from February to April), Érablière Charbonneau is open every day. The traditional meal is served all-you-can-eat: pea soup, omelet, ham, sausages, crispy pork rinds, meat pie, stew, and desserts. Enough to fill your belly! Vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options are available upon request in advance.

The meal includes access to the sugar house (syrup-making demonstrations), maple taffy on snow, forest trails, and tractor rides, weather permitting. The next season will take place in 2027.

Rates and Reservations

Rates for the 2026 season, taxes extra:

  • Adults (16 and over): $46.95;
  • Ages 13 to 15: $30.95;
  • Ages 6 to 12: $20.50;
  • Ages 3 to 5: $16.50;
  • Ages 2 and under: free.

Reservations are recommended by phone or email. For groups, they are mandatory. The 2027 rates will be posted on the official website.

Summer: Snack Bar, Terrace, and Mini-Farm

From late June to October, the shack opens its snack bar: order at the counter and settle on the terrace, no reservation needed. The star of the menu is the Poutine de la Cabane (sausages, bacon, eggs, maple sauce), accompanied by CABANAK house beers. Children enjoy the play area and mini-farm. Dogs are welcome on the terrace.

Vergers & Cidrerie Denis Charbonneau

Just down the Rang de la Montagne, the Vergers & Cidrerie Denis Charbonneau (another family business) offers apple and berry picking from June to October, a shop with homemade products, ciders, and a Breton crêperie open on weekends and daily in September and October.
